The PLSLWD celebrates its 1st annual Watershed Week by hosting a number of events you can participate in to gain a better understanding of the Watershed and all it has to offer.
All week you can explore the watershed on your own by completing a self-led Scavenger hunt. Complete the scavenger hunt "bingo board", then bring the completed board to our Watershed office in the lower level of Prior Lake City Hall and you can pick out a fun prize.
On Tuesday, July 9 (4:00-5:30pm) - we'll meet at Spring Lake Regional Park - South Entrance (2201 Spring Lake Rd, Prior Lake) at 4pm for a guided 2-mile walk on paved trails through a maple forest, wetlands and cattail marshes. You'll find wellness in the outdoors by combining your steps with purposeful stretching as you learn about the role of water in the landscape around you. Participants ages 11 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
On Thursday, July 11 (6:00-8:00pm) - you can learn about district projects by participate in one of two community bike rides. Meet at Michael's Cycles in Prior Lake (behind TJ Hoolingans) at 6:15pm and join the Great Scott Cycling Club to learn a little bit about the watershed and the Watershed District. Choose from two speed groups (Recreational) and (C-Team) depending on your comfort level. There is no cost, and waivers will be available for non-cycling club members at the start of the event.
On Saturday, July 13 (12:30-2:30pm), artist Kimberly Bousted will teach us about native plants, and you'll get to complete a Prior Lake inspired piece of artwork created Kimberly by using inks made from those native plants. This will take place at the beautiful Rhino Wine Bar on Main Street in Prior Lake. There will be plenty of time to grab a drink from the cash wine bar and experiment with natural inks. Registration is required and there just a few slots left. Use this link to register: Natural Inks Workshop and Paint & Sip
